God Scammed Me!

Becoming born again and bringing all my uncultured acts and conduct to an abrupt end became my earnest desire after I heard a young preacher unravel the mystery behind the birth of Jesus Christ.

Was it true, or just a mere story told to give hope and incite fear in order to bring order? The feeling I had was genuine—I could see it. It was palpable, growing from within me, pushing me toward the preacher for prayers.

I didn’t hold back. The preacher prayed for me and asked that I join him on Sunday at his church so I could learn more. I wasn’t ready to lose such an opportunity to understand what had happened to me. The kind of electricity that surged through my soul was heavy, so I opted for the "yes."

He said his church, but he was neither the pastor nor the owner of the church. An older man was. He wasn’t even seated near the pastors. I kept looking around until I finally spotted him standing at the north door, ushering people into the church. Ohh, he’s an usher, not even a pastor. How come he possesses such power? An ordinary usher?

My zeal became even more intense. "I could be this powerful," a voice whispered in my left ear.

That was the trap.

I fell right into it, and my journey began. Committed is not even the word that can best describe what I had become in just two months. I was exposed to a dimension of power. During evangelism, I would pray for the sick, and they would receive their healing. A special case was a blind man who received his sight. My name rang in the ears of the community.

God began to speak to me about a plan He had for me. I was certain it was Him. I wrote down everything He told me and what He wanted me to do.

The journey began, and for almost five years, I walked consistently in obedience. Yet, nothing of what He said to me was in sight. I went back to Him, crying and praying, but not even a word was given to me.

This was my conclusion: God scammed me.

He scammed me.

He did it to Jeremiah, and after much pain, Jeremiah cried out.
Jeremiah 20:7 You deceived me, LORD, and I was deceived; you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me.

God can scam!

Beloved!

The above story was told to me by a brother who was a firebrand, as the Pentecostals would call it.

He left the faith and abandoned his pursuit of God—all because God delayed his manifestation.

He concluded that God scammed him.

How true can this be?

Does God scam the ones He calls?

What really went wrong?

We understand from Habakkuk 2:3:

"For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end, it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."

To me, the prophet Habakkuk made it clear that every vision has its timing. One cannot bypass the process and expect God to work it through. The kingdom cannot risk having half-baked operatives on the field.

The young man Moses had a destiny—a destiny to deliver the children of Israel from the captivity of Egypt. This burning desire to manifest and actualize what was prophetically wired into him by the I AM spurred him to act rashly—he killed an Egyptian.

The question is:

Was it time for Moses' manifestation?

Of course not! His actions almost got him killed. He wanted to jump the process. He had the strength to fight but lacked the wisdom and patience for leadership.

It took Moses another forty years to learn what he needed to fulfill his destiny and actualize the vision of God.

Beloved.

This is our problem. We calculate and live by physical timing while walking with an Ancient Spirit (God), who has a purpose for every man.

He showed you what you must do before you leave the earth, but you forgot that He controls time. You want to rush it. You think you don’t have time. You strongly believe that if you don’t do it in your twenties, you’ll be too old at fifty to do it?

Let me ask you:

Is the vision for your glory?

Are you the one to be glorified?

Beloved, the One who is to be glorified said, "It is not time," and yet, you are angry and want to give up?

Alright then. Go ahead. Give up. Since you believe you are the one to be glorified.

But understand this: Every true vision in God is for His glory at its appointed manifestation—unless, of course, it is your vision, something you planned to achieve for yourself.

If not, stay with God, remain with God, and wait for the appointed time.

Is it marriage?

Is it a good job?

A promotion?

Business expansion?

Church planting?

Calm down. All things are for the glory of God. Allow the One who is to take the glory to run it.

I pray that God will grant you the grace to stay with Him until your day of manifestation, in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

In case you are reading this and you are not yet born again, beloved, you are missing out.

Pray this prayer with me now:

"Lord Jesus, I am a sinner in need of Your help. I believe that You died for me. Come into my life now and be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen."

Congratulations, beloved!

Please don’t stop here. You can only grow in the knowledge of God through guidance from those who have known Him more. Find a Bible-believing church near you and submit to the pastor.

God bless and keep you!
