In an untamed conversation with a young believer, who had just spent fourteen years on earth in a Christian home, we explored a societal issue that is threatening to erode morality among men.
In his words:
"Being gay is not a sin against God."
The old me would have protested and hushed him, but the new me decided to listen, aiming to discern the spirit behind his statement.
As I pressed on, he looked at me with a funny smile—the kind that seemed to say, "This uncle is a dummy."
No offense, but I almost slapped him.
As an African and a true Nigerian, such a reaction wouldn’t be out of place when correcting a child.
However, I restrained myself, and then he shocked me. He brought out his tablet and looked up the etymology of the word "gay." To my amazement, this is what we discovered:
"The word 'gay' comes from the Old French word gai, which means 'full of joy or mirth.' It was first recorded in English between 1275 and 1325. The word's primary meaning in English was 'joyful,' 'carefree,' 'bright and showy.' It was commonly used in speech and literature and is still used today in phrases like the 'Gay Nineties.' The word's meaning began to change in the 1600s when it came to imply that a person was unrestrained by morals and prone to decadence and promiscuity. It wasn't until the 20th century that the word began to be specifically associated with homosexuality." (Wikipedia)
At this point, I was calm. With a gentle smile, I looked at him and whispered in his ear:
"You can't say, 'I am gay,' anymore."
He replied, "Why?"
I whispered again, "The world has changed its meaning from 'joyful' to 'corrupt."
Beloved,
What used to signify joy is now associated with a demon-possessed man lusting after another demon-possessed man—taking something originally pure and twisting it into corruption.
With the rapid evolution of the world, it wouldn’t be surprising if the word "holiness" eventually becomes associated with something entirely sinful.
We now have:
- Prostitutes being called sex workers,
- Fraud being termed hustle,
- Lying being described as whining,
- Masturbation as stress relief,
- Adultery as sugar daddy/mummy relationships, and
- Fornication as catching cruise.
When you stand against such ungodliness, they accuse you of being judgmental.
Every day, I see a generation being led closer to the lake of fire—hellfire.
You might be doubting in your heart whether hell is real. Well, I haven’t been there myself, but the Bible says it is real, and I believe. If you choose to wait until after death to find out, that’s your decision. The only issue is that you won’t have the opportunity to make a different choice.
Beloved, the only time you have to make a choice is now. Decide today to live righteously. Stay away from all the world’s corrupt offerings. Walk into a Bible-believing church near you, surrender your life to Christ Jesus now, and you will be guided on how to live right.
Jesus Christ is coming soon.
Wow, this is so relieving
The world needs to hear this
