The Day Jesus Fell in Love with a Harlot

Protesters are almost on their way with placards now, chanting, "Blasphemer! Blasphemer! Blasphemer!"

Before you crucify me, kindly journey with me on this one. I promise I won't fail to provide you with the evidence of my allegation against the Lord Jesus Christ.

Reading critically through the book of Luke, Chapter 7, verses 37 through 50, you will see what I have to prove. Though it is a long reading, kindly bear with me—I promise it is worth your time.

37 And, behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

At this point, I can honestly say Jesus was enjoying the affectionate display—the tears washing, the hair cleaning his feet, the ointment, and even the kisses. Jesus enjoyed them all.

How do I know this? Jesus Christ didn't hide it. He defended his connection with the harlot. Let's read further...

39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, "This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner."
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, "Simon, I have something to say unto thee." And he saith, "Master, say on."
41 "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors: one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?"
43 Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one to whom he forgave the most." And he said unto him, "Thou hast rightly judged."
44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, "Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman, since the time I came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment."

What else do you want me to prove? All I have said is confirmed by the words of the Master. I know you may be agitated right now, or perhaps you think I am against Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. No, that is not the case.

Please don’t see it that way.

Jesus made his intentions clear. He lifted a veil so that you and I could see what true love really means.

In the preceding verse, He said:
47 "Wherefore I say unto thee, her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little."
48 And he said unto her, "Thy sins are forgiven."
49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, "Who is this that forgiveth sins also?"
50 And he said to the woman, "Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace."

Beloved, Jesus did not condemn her because she was a harlot. Just like every other living human, He loved her and decided to show it publicly—that His love is greater for those who surrender more.

You may be struggling with deep sin— A sin you think God will never forgive. Maybe you are a "hookup babe" (prostitute) like the lady in the story above. Maybe yours is stealing, swindling, fraud, or other vices. Maybe yours is even murder or any other grave wrongdoing.

Beloved, my point is this: if you turn to Jesus today with that sin you deem too big for forgiveness, Jesus—just as we saw in the story above—will open up His heart to you and love you more than you can imagine. He won’t do it in secret. He will show you what true love means, openly. Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!

Beloved, I can tell you for free—and from experience—that there is no true love outside Jesus Christ.
So, what should you do to partake in this love of Christ?
Come on, you already know!

The Bible says in Romans 10:10:
"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Beloved, I know you believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, but you must confess with your mouth. Say with me:

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe you died for me.
I believe you are the Son of God.
I don't want to continue living this sinful life.
I am a sinner,
Come wash me with your precious blood and forgive me of all my sins.
From now on, I will live for you and for you alone. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.

Beloved, don’t stop here. Locate a Bible-believing church near you and submit yourself to godly spiritual authorities for guidance. Your life will be transformed.

God bless you!
